Book Review I The Cruel Prince by, Holly Black

5 Cruel Stars!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

“Nice things don’t happen in storybooks. Or when they do happen, something bad happens next. Because otherwise the story would be boring, and no one would read it.”

Re-Read to prepare for Wicked King!

With a complicated and savage main character- Jude may be just a mortal girl, but she has spunk and ambition. I love reading a strong female character, who has gone through tough situations, but rises to the occasion. She gets knocked down but gets up again, and again. Jude faces so much persecution, but doesn't let it stop her from her own end game.

The Cruel Price is Epic and addicting, stealing your heart right from the start! I love the world building, plot, pacing and the writing. You are transported to a forest full of greed and hate. With Fairies-Royals, and secret meetings, Black has richly drawn a unique fantasy world.

I really liked this the first go round and my like only turned into love on the second. I am so ready for The Wicked King and really hope it lives up to the hype!!

Book Review I Again, but Better by, Christine Riccio

4.5 stars!!

I enjoyed this so much!! I have visited Christine Riccio's YouTube Channel occasionally over the years and I always loved her bubbly personality and her effortless ability to entertain. I knew she had been working on a book for ages, so when I saw this was available for preview- I could not wait to get my hands on it.

I loved this book! If I wouldn't have been in the middle of finishing another book at the time I started reading this, I would not have been able to put it down. The pacing of the book moved along fabulously. The plot was unexpected and different!! The characters were awesome and as much as I tried not to think of Christine while reading this- I couldn't help it. She is all over this book especially the main Character Shane. I could not help but picture her as Shane. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing- in the book writing world, but for me, it was kind of nice. I could relate to her character so much. I am pretty sure avid YA readers out there will also be able to relate to her as well. It didn't change my mind about the book at all.

All the references in Again But Better, are just a book lovers dream. I really don't want to compare her writing style to anyone because Riccio really put her own mark on this one. But- If you like books by Stephanie Perkins - I have no doubt you will like this one. The writing- as a debut was great. I'm really proud of her -can a BookTube follower be proud?? I don't know but … I AM! She did it and she did it well. She's an inspiration and I wish her all the luck in her future! Go read this!! Its totally binge worthy :)
**Thank you Netgalley for providing this advanced reader copy for preview :)**

Book Review I A Clash of Kings by, George RR Martin

4 Stars!!

“So many vows... they make you swear and swear. Defend the king. Obey the king. Keep his secrets. Do his bidding. Your life for his. But obey your father. Love your sister. Protect the innocent. Defend the weak. Respect the gods. Obey the laws. It’s too much. No matter what you do, you’re forsaking one vow or the other.”

The GAME is starting to develop in A Clash of Kings.

With a skill of drawing one into a story, Martin continues to deliver an epic tale. Fueled by themes of warfare, power, society and class- he has written another timeless classic. The manipulation in this book, is STRONG. I believe it is one of its highlights- and its only just beginning.

While I liked A Clash of Kings, compared to Game of Thrones- it lacks. A lot happens in this one, but not a ton of exciting things. There are a few epic scenes just not as much as I would have liked. It is still a fabulous book- but I know it's just setting up the politics and atmosphere for what's to come.

The violence was hard to swallow and at times really hard to read. I wanted to strangle half the characters and have their heads on a spike :P Now that's character growth/development- making me hate a fake person so much!!

Tyrion Lannister was my favorite and probably will continue to be... he is- after all, the comic relief

Tyrions wit and ability to make any situation fun and hilarious, was a joy to read. He truly is one of the highlights, causing me to look forward to all of his chapters. I love the relationship that is built between him and Varys and their banter.

Shae was also a new favorite. I love her personality and her take no crap attitude.

I could go on and on totally fangirling it up-

but I dont want to spoil anything. I enjoyed A Clash of Kings, and look forward to reading the rest of the books- then binging the series in preparation for the new TV season in April!

Book Review I Mistborn by, Brandon Sanderson

3.5 Stars!!!

Here is the thing. I liked it - just didn't LOVE it. This is only my second Brandon Sanderson book. The first was Steelheart and I wasn't the biggest fan of it. I heard SOOO many things about Mistborn that I had to give him another go. I'm glad I did. So why the 3.5 stars? Well, when I started it I could NOT get into it. I was bored … oh so very bored. I wanted it to pick up. I was also confused .. So many metals so many things to remember... With encouragement from other readers (thanks guys) , I pressed on and slowly but surely - It became something.

I started to fall for the characters... they grew on me. At around the half way point things really picked up and the world became a real place to me-There was action and purpose- twists and turns. If I were to break the book up into two parts - the first half would have been like a 2 but the second half a solid 4. The writing was great and the magic system was very different and fascinating. Everything starts to come together about 75% in and the last quarter of the book was fabulous.

Overall- I loved all the twists and turns that were thrown into it. The magic system gets a 5/5 stars for sure. Personally- I think it was a little longer that it needed to be. There were conversations that felt repetitive and descriptions of things (outside of the worldbuilding) that weren't really necessary but I am not giving up on Sanderson yet. I'm glad I gave Mistborn a go- and I am very anxious to read the next one to see how I like it. From what I hear they only get better. So my 3.5 will hopefully begin to evolve with each book. Room to grow and all that right?

Book Review I Saga Volume 1 by, Brian K. Vaughan

3.5 Stars!!

This was sooo friggin weird.... yet entertaining. A tad bit too raunchy for my taste, but for some reason it worked??? I’m not entirely sure how I feel about it completely, other than I couldn’t put it down and the illustrations were phenomenal. Most of the characters were fun to read and the plot was meh- all over the place - but as I said.. it worked for some reason. The cliffhanger was hilarious. So... I think I’m invested as of now- and going to have to keep reading the series to find out more about baby Hazel and her oddly unique family

Book Review I The Rule of One by, Ashley and Leslie Saunders

3 Stars

With a 1984(George Orwell) vibe to it - we enter a dystopian future where you can only have one child- Insert the "Rule of One." The MCs are twin sisters who have hidden the fact that the two of them exist. When their existence is discovered, they must go on the run.

This book had a lot of potential but for me it was a little bland. It was a journey book, and they were always moving but it felt a little repetitive. We follow a duel POV of the twins. It was hard to remember which sister I was reading for most of the book because they literally were like the same person. Something about this was intriguing but it also lacked a solid plot. I am invested now and plan to read the next one but honestly- Not a whole lot happens in this one and I can not put my finger on what makes me want to continue with it.... Maybe I see where it COULD go?!?! I guess ....we shall see.

Book Review I A Game of Thrones by, George R. R. Martin

5 Stars!!!

“Winter is coming.”

I may review this later but honestly, with so many reviews... I probably couldn’t do it justice! This was a re-read. First go round was a 4 this go round, it’s a 5... I can’t help it... I’m a total fan girl . I noticed so many new things this time. It’s one of those books that’ll never get old .
